new years in the bag

Not to brag or anything, but I'm pretty sure 2012 is going to be the most successful year of my limited existence, judging on the number of New Year's Resolutions I've already completed (and it's only January 6! Diggity dog!). Granted, most people do these things on a day-to-day basis, but hey! These are milestones for me. Thus, I feel successful.
  1. Driving on the freeway for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th times all by myself.
  2. Parallel parking all by myself and NOT falling into the gutter (not that the falling into the gutter thing has ever happened before and not that there was a gutter for me to fall in. Still, I'm proud that I parked without having the possibility of replacing an axle).
  3. Driving in downtown SLC all by myself.

Chuckle or chortle if you will, but judging by my current success rate, it's going to be a good year.

A bunch of people have asked me about Sam's birth. So here are more details (and pictures) than anyone ever wanted. Enjoy! (Also, I wrote this a few weeks ago. convos with a prego lady

Truth: pregnancy has made me rather cynical. I try to keep it hidden most of the time (and usually David is the one who bears the brunt of my pent-up sass. He is a champion). I'm not sure why cynicism is a current symptom I am experiencing. It may be due to the fact that I recently read a quote that opened my eyes to all of the nonsensical things people say to fill up space. Here it is, for your own personal enjoyment: "Yesterday at church, a lady took me aside with the express purpose to tell me, 'Don't feel bad. When God closes a door, he opens a window.'"
