to write love on her arms

to write love on her arms,
to cover the scars of yeses

that crisscross taut skin
in raised lips,

a silent kiss from Death's smile.

to comfort her pain,
to cool the angry fever
found within her troubled mind,
to wipe away unseen tears
forever dripping down dry cheeks.

to whisper I'm sorry,
to hear her unneeded apology,
to help her find forgiveness
for things she didn't do.

to give her a hug,
to reach warmly, holding her soul,
to help her find love.
this is why I write
love on my arms.
