emoting on extremely loud things

I just finished reading extremely loud and incredibly close by jonathan safran foer. It was (how do I say it?) wrenching in so many ways. And because I can't ever express myself with spoken words and because gnomes don't listen all that well, the following was written:

the world isn't as bright as it used to be because none of that existed none of it happened none of the colors breathed none of the lights lived the wheat didn't lick my skin the way the rain washed away the tears i haven't been able to cry for months and months and months that don't end the way that paper keeps falling and falling drowning and drowning in a sea that doesn't make sense because the waves drag the tide out and out and out until there is only sand to suffocate the breaths my mouth stopped swallowing and choking on air but gasps for water cliffs that churn the crashing of my mind cries but no one listens to pictures that don't matter no more that never mattered that never existed that never hurt because they never lived because they never were me and i didn't exist because i am not them and reality is nothing because no one sees anything but themselves in the mirror day in and day out and no one thinks except about them and them and them and pictures don't matter because they aren't seen and words aren't heard because hearts refuse to see the rags and bones that line the floors of empty houses that never lived and empty people that don't know how to cry because tears were wasted on rainy days when water drowned and drowned the falling cats and dogs that barked because somebody loved them even when the words didn't make sense and yes and no were all that could be seen and things were so extremely loud but not close enough because time didn't know how to say the words i needed most because listening hurt too much and words don't make sense though they are coming and coming and drowning and drowning and don't know how to stop.

Note: I would recommend reading this book. It was highly interesting, contained great quotable pages, and above all, reminded me how grateful I am for life, love, and family (especially my life, my love, and my family).
