nightmare

Sleepless confusion swarms in mind's eye.
angry and tired, sad, lonely thoughts wander,
running and hiding midst threatening storms.
Sighing and brushing cold tears from sorrow,
tiredness runs through darkened nights dreams.
Fearing and fleeing, heart finds itself gasping,
searching for air, calm breaths of light.
Throbbing and crying, lungs pump each sob-song,
spindrifts of frozen night achingly hang
clinging to silent walls, shallow breaths.
Uneven and slowing, mind frighteningly grasps,
holding to life tight with tired, worn fingers.
Never releasing, gripping the tighter
constricting breaths slowing, stopping with gasps.
Dying breath wheezes, shaking sighs soften,
sleep restlessly claims the aching soul's heart.
