bluest eye

dolls gaze, their eyes of batted blue and stares
of curly lashes long do blink when held,
encircled within arms of many cares
and rocked to sleep, to drowsiness compelled.
no choice of why or when the game of play,
a make-believe, perfection's ideal home,
she sits, she smiles, her face in lies all day,
her thoughts and wants entrapped, porcelain's stone
in empty silence smiles and day-in pretends,
while night out-pours enraptured sighs, tremors
relive in cradle's rocking lullaby.
soft now, she sleeps in still and frozen form,
her eyes death-closed, escaping's far-off sigh,
hiding the silent tears of bluest eye.
