i understand ions!

So maybe I didn't really understand chemistry all that well. For example, today I discovered the reason why ions stick to each other so well. I mean, I understood that metals typically turn into cations and that non-metals turn into anions and that opposites attract, but I never really stopped to think as to why.

So maybe I ought to think more deeply and ask questions rather than memorize facts out of textbooks.

Or maybe I knew this all along and am re-learning it all over again. Brilliant.
